A facility with more than 100 years of history that has undergone a transformation into a modern space.

The Powiśle power plant is a facility with a history of more than 100 years that played a key role in the energy development of Warsaw.

Built in 1904, for years it was one of the most important industrial buildings in Poland. After it closed in 2001, a revitalization process began to create a unique retail and service space, combining industrial character with modern design.

The biggest challenge was to preserve the authenticity of the building while implementing modern audiovisual systems that meet the highest acoustic standards.

01 Planning

Acoustic analysis and system design taking into account the unique architecture of the building.

A key objective was to maintain excellent sound quality while matching the technology to the industrial style of the interior.

02 Analysis and testing

We conducted a series of acoustic tests to select the optimal speaker placement and system parameters. Cooperation with the investor allowed us to develop solutions tailored to his expectations.

03 Final implementation

To meet the investor’s expectations and ensure consistency with the concept of the space, we implemented an advanced sound system that provides even sound coverage throughout the facility, tailored to different zones, and integrates with the historic character of the space, minimizing the visibility of the equipment.

It uses Dante digital audio distribution for flexible audio management and is controlled from iPads and zone controllers, allowing users to quickly change settings to suit their needs.

The end result

Thanks to the implemented solutions, the Powiśle Power Plant has become a place with a unique atmosphere, where sound harmonizes with the space. The sound system allows flexible use of the facility both during daily operations and special events.

Solutions

A system was installed consisting of:

  • 6 sound management server rooms
  • More than 200 speakers
  • 15 amplifiers
  • 37 microphones
  • 100 specially designed speaker enclosures

Thanks to one-of-a-kind integration, the whole thing is centrally controlled with the Bose ControlSpace EX-1280 processor, ensuring precise sound management in each zone.
